Win a £150 voucher to spend at Hand of Glory Antiques & Interiors, Lisa Lloyd’s new shop
You may know Lisa Lloyd from the BBC Antiques Roadshow, where she’s been a specialist since 2012. Now Lisa brings her expertise to the high street by recently opening a bricks-and-mortar antiques shop in her hometown of Chippenham, Wiltshire. Hand of Glory Antiques & Interiors carries an eclectic stock from 100-million-yearold petrified wood to 1950s designer chairs – and one lucky Reclaim reader can win £150 to spend at the shop or online.
Lisa’s background in antiques began as a London auctioneer and company director giving her 17 years of valuable experience. She moved into retail eight years ago on her return from living in France, and as the online business grew so did the logistical and storage problems.
‘I never intended to open a retail premises, but the unexpected availability of a characterful period shop – only one minute from my house – was too tempting to refuse,’ she explains. ‘I also saw the potential of opening the shop as a way of preserving the area’s heritage too, so I signed on the dotted line and the restoration began. It’s great to have a showcase and people have been very complimentary.’
In five rooms over two floors, stock is varied and includes handpicked items from French linens and textiles to antique pharmacy bottles. Whether you’re a collector of antiques or a fan of mid-century modern wanting something special for your home, Lisa wants the shop to be a welcoming, friendly place.
‘I have a very definite idea about how I want the shop to look and I like to think it’s a little edgy too!’ she says. ‘As a result, in addition to furniture you’ll also find an interesting collection of preand post-war art, lighting, upholstery, textiles and unique sculptural pieces.’
Look out on Lisa’s website for dates of events and exhibitions. In the meantime, if you shop at Hand of Glory you’ll join Lisa’s diverse client base, from boutique hotels to the occasional film star! Check out her stock at handofgloryantiques.com.
