Win a voucher worth £195 to spend on luxury wallpapers, fabrics and more at Divine Savages

‘We’re on a mission to nurture a passion for daring design and to help others be braver in their choice of pattern and bolder in their choice of colour,’ says Jamie Watkins, one half of the design duo behind Divine Savages, together with husband Tom Kennedy.

The pair are offering one lucky Reclaim reader a voucher worth £195 to spend at Divine Savages, where you can choose from exquisite wallpapers, gorgeous fabrics, and glamorous lampshades and cushions.

The journey began when they were renovating their first home. Avid collectors of curiosities and all things kitsch, they wanted to inject some of this passion and personality into their decor. Tom began drafting wallpaper designs of his own and came up with a Great Gatsby-inspired pattern, incorporating both their love of cocktails.

‘This design, one of our long-standing best-sellers now known as Deco Martini, became the first wallpaper put into production, and so in 2017 Divine Savages was born,’ says Jamie. ‘We love anything with a historical vein running through it and art deco definitely has a special place in our hearts – many of our wallpapers are influenced by this period.’

Although original design is at the heart of the business, as much thought goes into ‘positive production’, from working in small batches to avoid waste, to discovering new eco-friendly technologies. ‘We have a seasonless approach to design, with an emphasis on quality and forever-style over fleeting trends,’ Jamie reveals. ‘A significant number of our newer collections are printed on eco-friendly wallpaper which is made from 79 per cent renewable fibres, while our velvet pile is now 100 per cent recycled polyester, sourced from plastic waste.’

To those new to their eccentric and quirky designs, Jamie and Tom have advice for dipping your toe in for the first time: ‘Don’t be shy and trust your gut. If you like it, lean into it. Colour and pattern have the magical ability to transform any room, and by bringing it into a potentially boring space, it can work wonders.’
